JMC and What's to Come

Welcome to the inaugural posting of the newly created Jones blog! This site will provide an important supplement to information updated on Facebook on all things Jones. As we set about breaking the proverbial bottle across the bow of the maiden vessel that will be our transport into the bold new frontier of web 2.0, I thought it would be a good idea to talk about what's happening in the world of Jones as we speak.

Right now, preparations are hard underway to begin work on the first episode of Jones Underground which will be the blanket term for all pending releases. Kristin very smartly made me aware that one way to vastly improve the experience is to shorten the length of each individual section which is what I am working to do. My hope ultimately will be that this will afford us a more consistent release schedule without the necessity of painful marathon sessions to make our way through all of the new material. Once everything is up and running, you should expect new Jones every couple of weeks depending on what my schedule can allow me to crank out. However, this also means that most of the listening will have to be done alone without me there. That is one of the major reasons that I set up this blog. This way I can keep you abreast of the key themes or background elements to keep in mind to fully contextualize the new work. Check in on this blog regularly and hound me as much as you can to stick with it and keep posting!

In addition, as a way of easing us in to this new impersonal digital relationship, I have completed the arduous task of constructing the Jones Master Chronology which is a playlist containing all of the Jones songs as they appear in chronological order. To accompany this piece, I will be spending the next few weeks updating the blog with a kind of running commentary about what I think is important about each section of songs to the larger mythology or about how they illuminate or complicate characters or key themes. I hope that this will be an interesting and fun experience for all of us.

Thank you!
